Outcome Reflections
Outcome 1: Writing Processes & Adaptation
Before I started this class I disliked writing and reading. In Reading Response 1: Rhetorical Situations. After reading in the Backpack vs Briefcases article something stuck with me. It discussed the saying " can't judge a book by it cover". Before starting ENC 1101 I thought it was going to be difficult and I wasn't going to understand anything. I learned that anything is possible through effort.
Outcome 2: Multiple Literacies and Goal Setting
In Major Assignment 1 we had to look at our own literacy practices and analyze them through the lens of a socio-cultural framework. The 2 artifacts I chose were social media and scholarship essay. After doing this assignment I learned what rhetorical situations mean. There are 3 main steps exigence, audience, and constraints. I wrote about what effect social media and scholarship essays have one people today.
Outcome 3: Variation Across Contexts
In Reading Response 3: Linguistic Variation, I learned language variation is when everyone uses languages differently and they are influenced by settings or purposes. People speak differently depending on their environment. For one of the questions I was asked to connect what you read to your own personal experiences, interests, career plans, or other readings.
Response:
When I played basketball there was different variations of language. I was the only white girl on my team. After listening to the videos I know undertand the meaning of ave. Ave is an African American Vernacular English and it is a variation. While playing basketball I noticed a shift in my lanugage as well. I would use more slang and it was more of a relaxed, chill way of speaking. There is nothing wrong with that I just spent most of my time with them so there was a difference in how I talked. This also balances with how anyone can be influenced by the setting or purpose.
Outcome 4: Decision Making and Production
Decision making ties into Variations Across Context. You decide to make certain decision depending on who you are surrounded by. There are so many variations of languages. Decision making and production is crucial in writing.
Outcome 5: Writing and Power
Writing can become super powerful if used in the correct way. In Major Assignment 1 I discussed how my college scholarship essay was crucial for me. Through writing I was able to express my feelings about it towards the reader. Some people can relate to my specific moment which makes it great as a writer. In Major Assignment 2 it focused on literacy sponsors. I was blessed to have the opportunity to have many great sponsors in my literacy journey. I also reflected on others aren't given the same resources and it is incredible watching people succeed without them.
Outcome 6: Revision
Revisions are important when it comes to writing. After writing I tend to submit it right away. I struggle with reviewing my work and asking others for help. I have learned just a couple extra minutes if reviewing and greatly impact your writing. However if you do not revise your work it could affect you. Another form of reviewing is feedback. In Reading Response 3: Linguistic Variations it focused on the different ways of feedback and how to react.

Conclusion
Each Major and minor assignment during ENC 1101 has shaped me into the reader I am today. I can confidently say I enjoy writing and feel strong about my ability. With the help of my sponsors and feedback it positively impacted me.
